The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced groundbreaking dates for four temples in Latin America — two in Mexico and one each in Guatemala and Nicaragua.

The announcement was made Monday, Oct. 17, on ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
A site map and exterior rendering were released for the Managua temple with the announcement. Exterior renderings and site locations were released for the Miraflores and Torreón temples in September 2021 and the Querétaro temple in December 2021.
All four of the temples were announced by President Russell M. Nelson in a general conference setting — the Managua temple in April 2018, the Miraflores Guatemala City temple in October 2020, and the Querétaro and Torreón temples in April 2021.
Attendance at the sites for the groundbreaking ceremonies will be by invitation only, with additional details to come closer to the event dates.

Groundbreaking services for the Miraflores Guatemala City Guatemala Temple are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 3, with Elder Patricio M. Giuffra, a General Authority Seventy and second counselor in the Central America Area president, to preside.
The two-story temple of approximately 30,000 square feet will be built on a 1.5-acre site at the intersection of 13 Calle and 5-56 in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Originally known as the Greater Guatemala City Guatemala Temple, the Miraflores temple will be the second in the capital city’s metro area and among five in the country. Guatemala’s two operating temples are in Guatemala City and Quetzaltenango, with one under construction in Cobán and a new temple announced for Huehuetenango in general conference earlier this month.
The Miraflores name was added in July 2022.
The country is home to nearly 285,000 Church members in more than 430 congregations.

The groundbreaking for the Managua Nicaragua Temple is set for Saturday, Nov. 26. Elder Taylor G. Godoy, a General Authority Seventy and first counselor in the Central America Area presidency, will preside.
The temple will be built on a 8.9-acre site located off of Carretera Masaya near Residencial Las Colinas in southeast Managua, with plans calling for a single-story temple of approximately 25,000 square feet.

Nicaragua counts more than 101,000 Latter-day Saints comprising over 1000 congregations. The temple will be the first in the Central American country.

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Querétaro Mexico Temple will be held Saturday, Jan. 7, 2023, with Elder Adrián Ochoa, a General Authority and first counselor in the Mexico Area presidency, presenting at the services.
Its exterior rendering and site map were previously released. The temple — planned as a two-story, 27,500-square-foot edifice — will be built on a 3.58-acre site at Prolongación Tecnológico Norte 150, Colonia San Pablo, Querétaro, Mexico.

The Querétaro and Torreón temples were both announced by President Nelson in April 2021 general conference. The two are among Mexico’s 23 temples, with 13 dedicated and operating temples in Ciudad Juárez, Colonia Juárez Chihuahua, Guadalajara, Hermosillo Sonora, Mérida, Mexico City, Monterrey, Oaxaca, Tampico, Tijuana, Tuxtla Gutiérrez, Veracruz and Villahermosa. A temple is under construction in Puebla, with temples announced for Culiacán, San Luis Potosí, Mexico City Benemérito, Cuernavaca, Pachuca, Toluca and Tula.
Mexico has nearly 1.5 million Latter-Saints in over 1,800 congregations.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Ground will be broken for the Torreón Mexico Temple in services to be held on Saturday, Dec. 10. Presiding will be Elder Hugo Montoya, a General Authority Seventy and Mexico Area president.
The Torreón temple will be built on a 0.89-acre site at the corner of Paris and Amsterdam streets in the City of Gomez Palacio, Mexico. Plans call for a single-story temple of approximately 10,000 square feet.
